DAY 1 (FRI): Arrival - Kuta

Welcome to Bali! One of our team will be there to meet you at the airport with a big Bamboo smile and take you to our accommodation in the bustling area of Kuta.

After you're all checked-in, the rest of the day is yours to relax by the hotel's pool or go out and explore.

DAY 2 (SAT): Kuta

Here we go!

The day begins with breakfast followed by a detailed orientation about your tour. Once you’re up to speed, let us guide you around Kuta to help you get your bearings and discover what this beach-lovers town has to offer.

In the afternoon, we will take you to a beautiful spot overlooking the ocean and cliffs where you can enjoy some lunch or just sit back and admire the scenery.

Our first full day together concludes with a sunset Kecak dance and an official welcome meal before heading back to Kuta for a fun night on the town.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY 3 (SUN): Kuta - Ubud

This morning we have a treat for you! We are going to catch some waves while you have your very own surfing lesson. You’ll learn the basics, and before you know it, you’ll be on both feet looking cool AF.

Once you’re dried off and had lunch, we’ll head north to the hills surrounding Indonesia’s artisan and cultural hub of Ubud. Ubud is, in many ways, Bali’s cultural heart, the location of the magical movie Eat, Pray, Love, and once there, you’ll understand why this is such a spiritual place to be.

Once checked into our new accommodation, we’ll meet up in the cafe for a refresher on our time here before we venture deep into the Monkey forest. Ubud Monkey Forest, also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal, is one of Ubud's most sacred places, a natural forest sanctuary that is home to around 400 grey long-tailed macaques...be sure to leave your bananas at home!

Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch

DAY 4 (MON): Ubud

There’s no better way to experience the stunning jungle backdrop of Ubud than by rafting down a few lazy rapids on the Ayung River. This seriously fun activity is first on our list this morning, and lunch will be waiting for you at the end of it.

This action-packed day then continues with a jeep tour through the jungles of Ubud to the rice terraces and coffee plantations before passing the volcano of Kintamani and on to the Tirta Empul (Water Temple). The temple complex dates back over 1,000 years and is the site of a traditional tale of Good vs. Evil. The legendary pond inside the inner courtyard is said to have magical healing powers. As stunning as it is interesting, a visit to Ubud without a visit here just doesn’t count!

Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch

DAY 5 (TUE): Ubud

It’s an early start today as we head off on a trek! Starting at the Lake Temple of Pura Ulun Dhanu, it’s then off the beaten track to explore the dense jungle and lush green canopies in search of some of Bali’s most stunning hidden waterfalls.

We will also visit the stunning UNESCO World Heritage rice paddies that sit proudly on the sides of steep ravines. These are some of Bali’s most incredible testaments to ancient engineering, withstanding the tests of time and astounding visitors from around the world for hundreds of years.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch

DAY 6 (WED): Ubud - Nusa Penida

It's time to say goodbye to Ubud as we move on to one of Bali’s most exotic neighboring islands, Nusa Penida.

‘Penida,’ as it’s referred to, is known for being a part of Bali that remains untouched and a place brimming with unspoiled natural beauty. Home to empty, yet stunning, white sand beaches surrounded by dramatic landscapes, Penida is also where we’ll spend time giving back to the Balinese culture and people.

From Ubud, we’ll travel to the town of Sanur to catch the fast boat across the strait. Arriving in the early afternoon, we’ll then transfer to our supported project base and get up to speed with the project work. Learn how things will take place over the next few days and grab a spot of lunch.

Later in the day, we'll head down to the beach for a sunset BBQ at Crystal Bay.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY 7 - 9 (THU - SAT): Nusa Penida

For those of you who are keen to know more about the local marine life, or simply love the ocean, you’re in for a genuine, once-in-a-lifetime experience here on Penida! As we join in with the marine workshops, you'll have the opportunity to swim, snorkel, or dive with manta rays and sharks while learning about the ongoing coral reef, mangroves and conservation projects.

For good measure, we’ll also throw in a cooking class where you can learn the local culinary skills. We know there are some budding Gordon Ramsay’s out there, so once we’ve cooked it, we’ll eat it!

Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch

DAY 10 (SUN): Nusa Penida

Today we’ll be getting out and about to explore Penida from both the ocean and the land. This morning we will take a boat trip out to some of the best snorkel sites in Indonesia. Be prepared to be blown away by the incredible marine life that surrounds the island; manta-rays, turtles, sharks to name just a few.

Once back on the island, we’ll grab some lunch before heading off to visit some of Penida’s best beaches.

To finish off this memorable day, you'll have time to get freshened up before we put on a BBQ night for everyone's final night on Penida.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY 11 (MON): Nusa Penida - Kuta

This morning after breakfast, we’ll be saying goodbye to our hosts and catching the fast boat back to Bali island. We know what you’re thinking, and we don’t want it to end either!

We plan to arrive back to where it all began in the early afternoon. So once we’re checked in, you’ll have time to head off for some last-minute retail therapy, lounge by the pool, take another dip in the sea, or hit the bars.

As with everything Bamboo does, there’s always plenty of time for a party! So tonight we’ll get our glad rags on, hit the town and make it one never to forget!

Meals Included: Breakfast

DAY 12 (TUE): Departure - Kuta

The trip may have only been twelve days, but it’s guaranteed to live long in the memory! There’ll be plenty of time for that final ‘Bali Crew’ team photo, lots of hugs, hi-5’s, and “see you soon“’s for your new Bamboo family.

Meals Included: Breakfast

In short - anything that’s not on the "What's included?" list in the info pack! The main things you’ll absolutely need to get that aren’t included are:

International flights - we have people join us from all over the world so we leave these flexible so you can choose the departure airport and airline that suits you best.

Travel Insurance - you can choose your own travel insurance, or we can organise this for you. You can find details on the travel insurance here and will be able to add this onto your booking.

Visas – depending on the passport you hold you may need to get a visa before you travel. Please see below for more info on visas.

You need to book a flight that lands into the major airport on Bali, Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) on the Friday that the tour starts, between 8am and 8pm. Providing you arrive between these hours on this day, one of the team will then be there to meet you on arrival and take you back to the hotel.

If you arrive later than 8pm on the Friday start date, we will organise an airport pickup without a Bamboo representative to meet you.

If you arrive before your Friday start date, you will need additional accommodation. We can book this for you, at your own expense and you will just need to make your own way there from the airport.

This tour will end on Tuesday 12 days later in Kuta, so you need to make your departure arrangements from there that day.

Depending on your country of citizenship you may be entitled to a 30-day visa-free entry into Indonesia. A quick Google search will tell you whether you need a visa or not.
This largely depends on you. Lots of breakfasts throughout the tour are included, along with a couple of dinners. The rest of the meals are up to you, and if you are having local meals it will cost a couple of dollars, if you prefer western food, it will be more depending on where you eat.
This depends on your home country and your vaccination history. You should visit a local travel clinic and see what they recommend.

When you are ready to secure your spot on a Bamboo tour, you can choose the best payment option to suit you:

1. Pay a deposit today and the remaining balance 120 days before your tour starts (you will also have the option to pay the rest of your balance in instalments).
