VIETNAM BA VI DISABILITY CENTER VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCE
Based north of Hanoi, and surrounded by rice paddies and views of the mountains, this rural village is inhabited by local rice farmers wearing 'non la' (rice farmer hats), and small fruit and vegetable venders.
Based in this community is a centre for children with severe physical and mental disabilities who have been labelled by the government as 'beyond hope'.
This centre supported by our partner and the volunteers, provides ongoing support and rehabilitation for the most vulnerable members of this already poor community.
Without the help of volunteers like you, these children unable to care for themselves, will be left without their basic needs being met. [Read below for more info ↓]

This centre is supported by our partner and the volunteers will provide ongoing support and assist in the rehabilitation for the most vulnerable members of this already poor community.
Basic needs of the children are met by the centre staff, feeding, cleaning and clothing. Our volunteers provide what the centre does not and this includes liberal doses of love, rehabilitation, education and therapy programs. Of course we also assist the centre staff with the feeding and hygiene of the kids.
Whilst previous experience is not needed, any volunteers with specific therapy skills are greatly welcomed.
The centre not only caters for children but also for the homeless of Hanoi and those that are experiencing real difficulties in their lives. The centre also caters for some elderly residents who have no family or home to go to.
Such a variety of people will give the volunteer a real insight into what life can be like for some in Vietnam.
There are approximately 360 people at the centre and a few of the children attend the local school.

Vietnam has become a favourite destination of more and more tourists. There is Hanoi, elegant with its friendly people; Sapa with colourfully-dressed ethnic minority groups and the UNESCO World Heritage listed Halong Bay, with amazing caves and islets. There's romantic Hue and tranquil Hoi An where the best tailors in Vietnam reside. Danang the third largest city in Vietnam nestles on the Han river and Nha Trang sits beside some of the best bays of the world. The largest city in the country is the busy and westernised Ho Chi Minh City. There is also the Mekong-delta with the fascinating floating markets. Vietnam is truly a Cultural paradise, a country that has a little something for everyone, a country that will leave an indelible trace in your memory for years to come.
